SL Departures
Live Stockholm metro departures, and where the next trains are right now, on a small ESP32-C6 display.
Connect the board with a USB-C data cable, click the button, and pick the port. Choose erase for a first install. After flashing, the installer asks for your Wi-Fi name and password, which are sent only to the board. Then Visit device opens the board's page for choosing the line and station and managing its Wi-Fi networks. You can also close the Wi-Fi dialog and set up from your phone instead (below).
What you need
- A Waveshare ESP32-C6-LCD-1.47 (ESP32-C6 with a 1.47" 172×320 display).
- A USB-C cable that carries data, not just power.
- Chrome or Edge on Windows, macOS, Linux or ChromeOS.
Using it
Everything is done with the BOOT button. RESET just restarts the board.
| Where | Press | Double press | Hold |

| Line list | Next entry | Previous entry | Select |
| Station list | Next station | Previous station | Select |
| Phone QR code | Close | Close | Close |
| Wi-Fi setup | Cancel |
The line list has the three lines, then Mobil…, English and Om / Uppdatera…. English switches the board and its phone page to English; it then reads Svenska for switching back. Mobil… shows a QR code: scan it with a phone on the same Wi-Fi to choose the line and station, and to add or forget Wi-Fi networks. When the board is offline, Mobil… starts Wi-Fi setup instead (below).
The board remembers your station. The map shows four stations each side of yours. Trains are placed from SL's real-time departures at the neighbouring stations and glide along the track, in towards your station and on out the other side. An arrow and a trail mark a train on its way; a blinking outline marks one at the platform.
Wi-Fi setup from your phone
A new board shows a QR code by itself. Later, when the board has no Wi-Fi, hold the button, go to Mobil… in the line list, and hold again.
- Scan the QR code with your phone camera to join the board's hotspot.
- A setup page opens. If it doesn't, scan the second code that appears on the screen.
- Pick your network, enter the password, and choose the line and station. The board shows when it's connected.
The board remembers up to five networks, for example your home Wi-Fi and a phone hotspot, and joins the strongest one in range. A network set up here is only saved once the board has connected to it. While the board is online, add more networks from Mobil…; they're used when the current network is lost. From a computer, you can also open this page, connect, and choose Change Wi-Fi.
Updates
The board updates itself over Wi-Fi at night and keeps your Wi-Fi and station. To update right away, open Om / Uppdatera… in the line list and hold the button. If a new version can't fetch departures, the board goes back to the previous one by itself.
Boards installed before v1.1.0 need one update from this page first.
Troubleshooting
- Empty port list, or Visit device can't reach the board (Mac): allow Chrome under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network, then quit and reopen Chrome.
- Port busy: close other installer tabs, or unplug and replug the board.
- Dot next to the clock: red means no Wi-Fi, orange means the departure data is more than 90 seconds old.
- Start screen says Ansluter till Wi-Fi…: none of the saved networks is in range. With a phone hotspot, keep the hotspot settings screen open while the board connects, since phones stop showing an idle hotspot.
